William “Bill” D. Sharp
Bill Sharp has 30 years’ experience in operational and financial management, successfully performing corporate turnarounds, loan workouts, bankruptcy reorganizations and systems implementation. He has held numerous executive positions on an interim basis, including President, COO, CFO, VP Finance and General Manager. He is expert at developing and implementing short and long-range strategic business plans, cash management and financial reporting systems, budgeting and forecasting models, activity-based costing, and materials requirements planning for manufacturers and defense contractors.
For the past 20 years, Mr. Sharp has operated William D. Sharp Associates, a consulting practice for financially troubled and startup companies with a special emphasis on financial restructuring and operational improvement. He has worked on both sides of bankruptcy, as a creditors’ advisor and also as an interim executive for debtors companies that were reorganizing under Chapter 11, preparing for sale, or liquidating. Companies have ranged from startups to mature, billion dollar corporations operating in such diverse industries as medical products, electronics, aerospace, computer hardware and software, food processing, mining, telecommunications, manufacturing, training, restaurants and retail.
Mr. Sharp negotiated with landlords for a CA-based restaurant chain, to reorganize past due rents into short term notes. He also spearheaded operational improvements including developing a new forecasting and budgeting system, producing the corporate budget and reviewing personnel assignments.
Other assignments included the complete reorganization $25 million A/V business including the hiring of a new executive team, a review of major construction contracts for a large city government, and the design and implementation of procedures to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for public companies.
Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Sharp was Interim CFO for Transco, a CA-based manufacturer of defense electronics, where he reorganized all financial and information management systems over a 12-month period. Before that, he was the VP Finance and Administration for Avicom International (now Hughes Avicom), a manufacturer of airline entertainment systems. He also worked in finance roles of increasing responsibility for ITT in New York City and Amdahl Communications in Southern California.
Mr. Sharp received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from St. John’s University and did post-graduate work in Finance at New York University.
