Jim Matthews Receives Most Outstanding Contribution Award from TMA
San Francisco, October 8, 2003 – James B. Matthews, a leader in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Chapter and on the international Board of Directors, has been named as the 2003 winner of the "Outstanding Individual Contribution" award from the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). This award is given to an individual whose dedication and commitment has made a lasting contribution not only to TMA, but also the corporate renewal industry.
Matthews received the award at TMA's 15th Anniversary Convention in San Francisco on October 8. TMA has 6,400 members in 32 chapters worldwide and is the premier professional community dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management.
Matthews is president of Prime Locations LLC, a national real estate consulting firm in Dallas. He served as president of the DFW Chapter in 1995 and 2000 and has been a director for more than 10 consecutive years. He has a perfect attendance record at TMA's International Board of Directors meetings since 1995, serving on numerous committees, and on the Executive Committee since 2001 as Vice President of Chapter Relations and currently as Vice President of Membership. He has supported chapter development by initiating leadership training and manuals during a time of rapid membership growth with double-digit increases each year.
In addition to his donation of many hours of service, Matthews has been a strong financial supporter of TMA programs and events, with attendance and sponsorships over the years. He is one of the first to pledge as a sponsor of the new Cornerstone 15 Program, an education and research endowment fund, initiated during TMA's 15th Anniversary year.
When nominated for the award, Matthews was cited as "the precise example of what has contributed to the growth and success of TMA. Since the beginning of TMA in 1988, many have provided periods of support, both in time and money. None have surpassed the personal dedication of Jim Mathews. It is most appropriate in an anniversary year for TMA to recognize Jim for his outstanding service." He was also described as being nationally recognized as one of the most respected troubled real estate practitioners, handling several national cases to maximize value and minimize liabilities related to properties.
